Dental implantation is the process of replacing missing teeth or teeth that cannot be saved by conventional means.

Implants can range from single-tooth replacement to a complete upper and lower arch replacement.

Dental implants are made of titanium and the crowns are usually made of high-grade porcelain fused to precious metals such as gold.

The dental implant procedures are carried out in the dental chair under local anaesthetic. We will consult with you beforehand to establish your suitability, the time requirements and a complete costing for the procedure.

Suitability for dental implants

You are a candidate for dental implants if you:

  1. have adequate bone (in terms of both quality and volume)

  2. practise good oral hygiene

  3. meet the general medical requirements

  4. have regular dental checkups.

Bone quality and volume will be assessed by an examination. Smoking increases the risk of failure of implant related treatments.

Costs

Costs may vary considerably from case to case. Prior to any surgical procedure, a full costing will be provided. Occasionally additional unexpected materials may be required during a surgical procedure, but patients will be informed prior to such situations occurring.
